Donate Books | What types of books does the Theological Book Network need?
This is a question frequently posed as people consider making a book donation to the Network. Our mission is to provide high-quality academic titles in theology, religion and other disciplines requested by our international partners and their libraries. To this end, we are always interested in receiving libraries and collections that contain such books.
With this goal in mind, we have prepared the following guide to those materials which most assist us in fulfilling the needs of those schools we serve. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call and discuss your donation with our staff.
| Materials most desired/needed:
- Biblical Studies
- Commentaries
- Secondary Studies
- Linguistic Tools (Greek, Hebrew, Latin)
- Systematic Theology
- Church History
- Philosophy/Philosophy of Religion
- Ethics
- History of Religion
- Missiology
Materials that you may not have considered, but that we also have use for:
- African/Asian Studies
- Anthropology
- World Religions
- Reference materials such as dictionaries and encyclopedias (if recent)
| Materials for which we have very little use*:
- Practical theology (In general, it has too Western a focus.)
- Pastoral counseling
- Psychology
- Sermon preparation
- Church administration
- Youth Ministry
- Popular literature
- Children's books
- Bibles
| *There are occasions when the schools we serve may request academic books and journals on subjects other than those in the first two categories above. If you wish to donate a high-quality collection in a discipline other than that in our primary focus, please call to discuss with Wayne Bornholdt or Greg Heynen.
Institutional donations post-Book Sale: Unless the vast majority of titles to be donated fall under the first two categories above, we will regretfully need to turn down the donation. |
