Throughout the Majority World Christianity is growing rapidly. In fact, it is growing so quickly that there is a profound shortage of trained scholars, pastors, priests and teachers to guide Christian communities as they navigate challenges in church and society. Seminary libraries are unable to provide adequate resources for their growing theological programs. The low quantity of available books leaves faculty and students without the key tools for their work.
The Theological Book Network exists to support the formation of Majority World leaders called to serve the global church. We do this by providing high-quality theological resources to schools in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe to support indigenous scholarship and training of leaders in the church.
The Network has established key principles for carrying out its work. These core values make the Network unique in its field.
The Theological Book Network is an educational nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Kurt Berends in 2004. Since then, the Network has grown significantly in its programs and services. The Network has partnered with over 1,300 theological schools in 88 countries, providing more than 2 million academic-level theological books for the formation of clergy and the education of scholars in the global church.
Mission Statement: The Theological Book Network is committed to the creation and development of Majority World leaders by providing access to educational resources from the West and by assisting in the production and dissemination of local resources, contributing to the practice of theological reflection on the needs and goals of the Majority World Church.
We serve under-resourced theological schools in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The blue dots in the map below represent countries the Network has had the opportunity to serve. Use your mouse to zoom and/or drag the map to the desired area.
